What would you do if you had 2 nights and a full day in Cannon Beach or Seaside this Summer? Here is the start of a series of mini itineraries set up in a ‘Choose your Own Adventure’ format. Simply choose one or more option from each category.

On your way to Cannon Beach or Seaside:

  • (Portland) heading West on HWY 26 stop at: Camp 18 Restaurant – walk around and see the Loggers Memorial, walk on the short trail behind the restaurant beside the creek, grab a huge cinnamon roll to go, check out the large logs and railroad cars.
  • (Tillamook) heading North on Hwy 101: Tillamook Cheese Factory. The cheese factory is being rebuilt, but there is still a temporary visitors center to visit until the new one is built in 2018.
  • (Portland) on HWY 6, driving North on 101: visit the Tillamook Forest Center. It’s free, informative, there are walking paths, great exhibits and a fire tower to climb.
  • (Astoria or Washington) heading South on Hwy 101: Cape Disappointment State Park in WA, or Fort Stevens in Warrenton, OR

Stay overnight in Cannon Beach, OR at Inn at Haystack Rock or the Blue Gull Inn

or Seaside, OR at the Gilbert Inn (B & B one block back from the beach), Inn at the Prom (on the beach)

C.  It’s a Sunny day and you want to stay in the area (choose one or more)

  • Rent a kayak (check out our blog post for ideas of where to rent)
  • Rent a Stand up Paddle Board or take a lesson (check out our blog post for ideas of where to rent)
  • Build a Sand Castle
  • Walk the Prom in Seaside
  • Check out Haystack Rock and the tide pools in Cannon Beach
  • Surf at Indian Beach in Ecola State Park
  • Hike (Neakahnie, Ecola State Park, Fort Stevens, Fort Clatsop) More info here
